An internally transluminal model of the hypothesized unique cosmic quantum of the very early universe is proposed. It consists of a\u00a0closed-loop photon model, which has the total mass-energy of the atomic matter and dark matter of our observable universe that will\u00a0develop from it. The closed-loop photon model is composed of a rapidly circulating point-like transluminal energy quantum (TEQ).
\nThis TEQ circulates in a closed helical path with a maximum speed of c and a minimum speed of around the photon model\u2019s\u00a0one-wavelength closed circular axis. The transluminal energy quantum model of the cosmic quantum is a boson.<\/p>\n

The cosmic quantum<\/strong><\/span>
\nModel may help shed some light on several fundamental issues in cosmology, such as the nature of the cosmic quantum, the\u00a0predominance of matter over antimatter in our universe, the possible particles of dark matter, the quantum interconnectedness of the\u00a0universe, and the very low entropy of the very early universe. The cosmic quantum may be the first particle of dark matter, from\u00a0which all other particles are derived.<\/p>\n

1. Introduction<\/strong><\/span>
\nIn 1931 Lema\u00eetre1 hypothesized that a single quantum\u00a0particle (primeval atom) composed the universe at the beginning stage: \u201cIf we go back in the course of time we must find fewer and fewer quanta, until we find all\u00a0the energy of the universe packed in a few or even in a\u00a0unique quantum.\u201d (p. 706)<\/p>\n

According to this hypothesis the primeval atom\u00a0transformed into many other particles. The system of\u00a0particles and the volume of space expanded according\u00a0to Einstein\u2019s general theory of relativity to produce our\u00a0current universe. This hypothesis later came to be\u00a0known as the Big Bang theory of the universe.\u00a0In 1956 Goldhaber2 built on Lema\u00eetre\u2019s hypothesis\u00a0in an attempt to explain why anti-matter is much less\u00a0abundant in our universe than matter. He proposed that
\na single particle, a \u201cuniverson\u201d, existed before the Big\u00a0Bang. The universon decayed into a \u201ccosmon\u201d and\u00a0\u201canti-cosmon\u201d.<\/p>\n

The cosmon then decayed to produce\u00a0our universe whose atomic matter is ordinary matter (as\u00a0opposed to anti-matter).
\nIn 1975, Tryon3 proposed that the universe could have resulted from a quantum fluctuation (in the sense\u00a0of quantum field theory) from the vacuum state of\u00a0space. This could have happened without violating the\u00a0conventional laws of physics, such as conservation of\u00a0energy and conservation of electron and baryon\u00a0number. The universe formed would have to be on the\u00a0border of being open or closed (because the quantity of\u00a0negative gravitational potential energy would exactly
\nbalance the quantity of positive mass energy) and also\u00a0contain an equal amount of matter and anti-matter.
\nTryon does not give a model of the quantum fluctuation\u00a0that produced the universe.<\/p>\n

In 1989 Dehmelt4 built on Lema\u00eetre\u2019s hypothesis.\u00a0He suggested that a \u201ccosmon, an immensely heavy\u00a0lower layer subquark, is the elementary particle. The\u00a0world-atom, a tightly bound cosmon\/anticosmon pair of\u00a0zero relativistic total mass, arose from the nothing state\u00a0in a quantum jump. Rapid decay of the pair launched\u00a0the big bang and created the universe.\u201d
\nThe recent Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy\u00a0Probe\u2019s (WMAP)5 detailed measurements of the very\u00a0nearly uniform (to about 1 part in 100,000) cosmic\u00a0microwave background radiation (CMBR) coming from\u00a0all directions in space, with a black body radiation\u00a0temperature of 2.725 Kelvin, have yielded strong\u00a0support for what has become the Standard Model of
\ncosmology, the Lambda Cold Dark Matter ( ! CDM)\u00a0with Inflation model. To briefly summarize this model,\u00a0the very early universe was a rapidly expanding hot,\u00a0dense physical state (the Big Bang). This was followed\u00a0very quickly by a period of extremely rapid inflationary\u00a0expansion, followed by normal expansion. This\u00a0inflationary period is supposed to have wiped out all\u00a0physical evidence of particles that existed before it.
\nThere are however physical models for the preinflationary\u00a0era that try to describe this era and explain
\nthe cause of inflation.<\/p>\n

After the inflationary period there were small\u00a0variations in mass\/energy densities in the universe\u00a0produced by quantum fluctuations of energy during the\u00a0inflationary period. The post-inflationary matter and\u00a0energy evolved into an extremely hot concentration of\u00a0elementary particles, which later formed atomic nuclei\u00a0of hydrogen, helium and lithium. Later hydrogen,
\nhelium and lithium atoms formed, and still later stars\u00a0and galaxies formed in the regions of greater mass\u00a0densities caused by the quantum fluctuations of the\u00a0inflationary period. The universe continued to evolve\u00a0into our current universe. According to the WMAP\u00a0data, our universe now consists of about 4.6% atomic\u00a0matter, 22.7% dark matter composed of relatively slow\u00a0(cold) unknown particles, and 72.8% dark energy also\u00a0of an unknown nature. Currently our universe appears\u00a0to be geometrically flat and has an accelerated spatial\u00a0expansion (related to Lambda or the cosmological
\nconstant of Einstein\u2019s equations of general relativity)\u00a0that may be caused by the dark energy.<\/p>\n

There is an active search for a theory of quantum \u00a0gravity to describe the very early universe, where the\u00a0micro-scale realm of quantum physics and macro-scale\u00a0realm of general relativity converge. A leading\u00a0approach to the development of quantum gravity is\u00a0Hawking\u2019s6 \u201cno boundary condition\u201d of the very early\u00a0universe. The expansion of the universe would have\u00a0begun from a state that was very smooth and ordered.
\n\u201cThere had to be small fluctuations in the density and\u00a0velocity of particles. The no boundary condition,\u00a0however, implied that these fluctuations were as small\u00a0as they could be, consistent with the uncertainty\u00a0principle.\u201d (p.148)\u00a0In 2010 Wayte7 proposed that a single particle,\u00a0with its internal material circulating coherently at speed\u00a0c, formed the primeval particle of our universe. That\u00a0first particle transformed into the energy configuration\u00a0known as the hot big bang of cosmological theory.<\/p>\n

The present article, based on the author\u2019s8 work on\u00a0internally transluminal models of the photon and the
\nelectron, proposes that the hypothetical first particle of\u00a0our universe may have been an internally transluminal\u00a0single quantum particle\u2014a closed-looped photon. This\u00a0article also proposes two varieties of the internally\u00a0transluminal closed photon model as candidates for\u00a0particles of dark matter.<\/p>\n
